Manhandled from birth
The dregs of society comprise the majority
Contained and harvested
Like fish in a hatchery
Kept down by conflicting ideology
Sedated by the fantasy— Hard work brings success
Attempts to circumvent
Are met with prison sentences
Untaxed drug sales
Could cost a lifetime
While “white collar” criminals
Just pay a fine
If it were a public health crisis
Addicts would be patients, not prisoners
But these laws aren’t made for you
They’re made for the protection of profits and property, not people
Drug addictions an affliction
Poverty’s a cause not a symptom
Intentionally orchestrated
With redlines and infrastructure
Tools used to divide and decline
The correlation to county lines by design
They spin it black vs white
Rich vs poor
Cop vs criminal
Red vs blue
When the only real divide
Is rule vs ruled
These conditions are engineered
To maintain poverty and create fear
To keep control over the masses
They want us sedated on our asses
While they make money off of suffering
Through the “justice” system and legislation
Make illegal what they can’t tax
And selling poison just to make a profit
Make it addict vs citizen
Right vs wrong
Anything to make us see
Our friends as enemies
Manhandled from birth
The ruling class form our paths
Work and contribute
Or break the law become enslaved
Drug addiction is an affliction, criminalized to make money of the cartels, to put more prisoners to work, more for-profit prisons instead of funding for rehab, these people are humans not monsters, suffering an ailment like cancer or Alzheimer’s, physical dependency isn’t a choice, overprescribed painkillers pushed by big companies infect communities but nobody cares, Government and corporations create poverty, poverty creates addiction and crime, criminals and addicts become dehumanized by design, this isn’t a decision or lifestyle, or a path to choose, this is a system made intentionally to produce profit through suffering, gaining support by dehumanizing our peers, your fear is a tool they use to divide and conquer.
The punk scene needs more of this. There are obvious comparisons to be had with Nausea and Sacrilege, but Flower stands on their own (and alone, currently) with this caustic, crusty, meaningful punk. Buy the LP/shirt bundle - it's a good price and you're supporting a good scene. X Wild Alaskan Salmonella X
